hanging out the washing in the summer breeze,

cool, homemade lemonade in the garden,

days out,

summer flowers,

and picking a few for the kitchen table.

Dazzle - humua

Good friends, cake and nibbles, rustle of wrapping paper, glorious sunshine! Our daughter's 2nd birthday goes down as a sunny memory. Even if the house looked like a bombsite when the last guests had left :).

Hyviä ystäviä, kakkua ja pikkusuolaista, käärepaperin rapinaa, aurinkoa! Tyttäremme toinen syntymäpäivä jää valoisaksi muistoksi. Ja koti oli tietysti viimeistenkin vieraiden kaikottua kuin pommin jäljiltä :).

Friday Inspiration - Long Island Summerhouse

I for one am longing for the warm rays of the sun! Here's to revel for a moment in those lingering summer days that lie ahead in the not so distant future (I can just see Mr Gatsby sipping a drink on the white porch, gazing across the lawn)... Weekend joy!

Two years ago -

Everything was ready and waiting for our baby daughter to arrive. (Yes, we found out the type beforehand :)). With three little brothers and a firstborn son I had to pinch myself when we heard a girl was on its way - I had somehow imagined my destiny in life to be surrounded by boys! Still in our old apartment, her nook was in the corner of our bedroom. Expecting her and her first year I would say were the most harmonious times of my life so far (before moving and getting through feelings of missing our previous lifestyle!). At the weekend we'll be celebrating her 2nd birthday. A cliche as it sounds but where has the time flown? (And no, the baby shoes never stayed on! )

Kaksi vuotta sitten kaikki oli valmiina tyttövauvaamme varten. (Otimme siis lajityypistä selvää etukäteen:)). Kolmen pikkuveljen ja esikoispojan myötä täytyi itseään ihan nipistää kun kuulimme, että tyttö tulee - jostain syystä olin kuvitellut että elämäni suunta on olla poikalasten ympäröimä! Vauvan soppi sijaitsi makuuhuoneemme nurkassa entisessä asunnossamme. Odotusaika ja tytön ensimmäinen vuosi olivat varmasti elämäni harmonisinta aikaa (ennen muuttoa ja entisen elämäntyylimme ikävöimisvaihetta!). Viikonloppuna vietetään 2-vuotissynttäreitä. Niin kliseeltä kuin se kuulostaakin mutta mihin on aika rientänyt? (Ja nuo töppöset eivät muuten koskaan pysyneet tyttösen jalassa!)

Slice of London

A week and a half marvelling at the most amazing trees...

Puolentoista viikon ajan ihmettelin ihmeellisimpiä puita...

(I can never stop gasping at the variety and beauty of English trees! And the fact that they begin to flower so enviably early!)
(En voi lakata ihmettelemästä englantilaisten puiden valtaisaa lajikirjoa ja kauneutta! Ja kun ne kukkivat niin kadehdittavan aikaisin!)

, English houses, in their whites, pastels and browns. Steeped in history, surrounded by greenery, front doors painted in all manners of colours beckoning to pop in for a cup of tea. I love that even in the heart of London houses look like homes, garden and all!

, englantilaisia valkoisia, pastellisisävyisiä, ruskeita taloja. Vanhoja, vihreän ympäröimiä, kaikenkirjavia ovia, jotka näyttävät kutsuvan sisään teekupposelle. Sykähdyttävää kun Lontoon keskustassakin talot näyttävät kodeilta pihoineen kaikkineen!

... in my dreams I would have come home with this car instead of a boring plane!

... paljon mieluummin olisi hurauttanut kotiin tällä autolla tylsän lentokoneen sijaan!
